Job Summary
Minimum Qualification & Experience:
3-year bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
8 year’s related experience in a Managerial position
3 years’ related experience in a managerial and/or leadership role within the steel fabrication or heavy engineering industry
Proficiency in CAD software, project management tools, and engineering design tools
Preferred/Advantageous:
Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project oversight and Compliance
Specify and oversee the planning and execution of engineering projects, ensuring that all quality standards are met.
Monitor and integrate engineering changes throughout the project cycle.
Ensure compliance with all applicable international engineering standards, codes, and regulations.
Perform manpower planning and forecasting to determine the engineering staff needs for ongoing and upcoming projects.
Manage engineering changes to a minimum.
Design & Technical Oversight
Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and specifications, ensuring adherence to international safety standards and project requirements.
Understand different engineering (and technical) standards and ensure compliance thereto.
Drive innovation by staying updated on emerging technologies, processes, and materials within the steel fabrication industry, and pursue opportunities for patenting new designs.
Troubleshoot and resolve engineering-related challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead computer development activities, contributing to the direction of engineering software and tools.
Propose alternative solutions for design, materials, efficiency, and process optimization, ensuring all recommendations comply with engineering standards.
Stakeholder Communication
Work closely with clients to understand technical / engineering requirements, manage expectations, and ensure compliance to technical standards and engineering practices.
Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation for senior management and clients.
Serve as the primary point of contact for engineering department with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular project updates and technical insights.
Budget & Resource Management
Develop and manage engineering department budgets.
Develop and manage skills, technical processes, and machinery improvements to ultimately enhance efficiency and optimize overall processes.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure that all engineering processes and outputs comply with relevant industry standards, legal regulations, and environmental guidelines.
Implement and maintain quality control measures to uphold the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality products and services.
People Management and Leadership Duties
Lead and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and technical staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive skills matrix for all employees in the engineering department to ensure alignment with project needs and identify areas for development.
Provide technical guidance, training, and professional development to engineering staff.
Allocate resources effectively to meet project requirements and company goals.
Manage and enforce discipline of the department in accordance with ER Policy.
General and Ad hoc Duties
Keep confidential documents and trade secrets of the Company secure.
Relief and assist in all areas during periods of absence or crisis.
Attend to any reasonable request made by SLT.
Report, and where possible handle, cases of accident, fire, theft, loss, damage, or contravention of regulations.
Attend meetings, training courses, workshops or seminars as required.
Adhere to Company policies and procedures and maintain Company standards.
