Job Summary
Hire Resolve's Client is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Specialist in Commodity to join a leading mining organization in the Northern Cape. The successful candidate will focus on optimizing commodity procurement and sourcing strategies, ensuring efficient supply chain management, and driving cost-effective solutions in alignment with business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for commodities aligned with business objectives and supply market trends.
- Identify and secure high-quality, cost-effective suppliers and maintain positive, productive vendor relationships.
- Conduct market analysis to identify pricing trends, risks, and opportunities for procurement efficiencies.
- Oversee contract negotiations, supplier selection, and manage contract compliance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement strategies align with production requirements and inventory management.
- Monitor and manage commodity price fluctuations and apply strategies to mitigate cost impacts.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize supply chain processes and reduce procurement lead times.
- Prepare reports on commodity pricing, sourcing metrics, and supplier performance for senior management.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in all sourcing activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
- MS Office Suite, QlikView, MS Excel, and JD Edwards or equivalent
- Mine Health and Safety Act and BBBEE Act
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate (1 year - NQF Level 5), National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in commodity management or procurement, ideally in the mining sector.
- Strong knowledge of the commodities market, including relevant supply chain dynamics.
- Proven track record in contract negotiation and vendor management.
- Proficiency in procurement software and data analysis tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with local and international commodity regulations and standards.
