As a Procurement Manager in the Solar Industry, you will be responsible for managing the procurement activities related to solar projects. This includes sourcing, selecting, and negotiating with suppliers, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment. You will play a critical role in ensuring that the company's procurement processes are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with sustainability goals.
Responsibilities
- Key player in supplier and subcontractor vetting procedures alongside COO for any country in Africa requiring installed systems.
- Vet suppliers and products requested by Engineering Department for use.
- Keep pricelists updated for Engineering Department to facilitate detailed project costing.
- Drive and develop project Bill of Quantities (BOQ) in collaboration with Engineering Department.
- Hand over project procurement list (BOQ) to Project Management Department.
- Review project budgets and sign on behalf of Engineering Department.
- Drive and monitor credit applications with suppliers.
- Liaise with key company employees to determine product and service needs.
- Monitor business trends and product availability to secure best prices without sacrificing quality or delivery times.
- Nurture relationships with suppliers to negotiate optimal pricing.
- Identify and research potential new suppliers.
- Research new products and services aligned with company goals.
- Assess total costs of company purchases.
- Develop and implement strategies for procuring, storing, and distributing products while monitoring stock levels.
- Manage company stock and inventory.
- Ensure implementation of all duties across all Company Branches in Africa.
- Adhere to company ISO 9001 & 45001 Compliances
Requirements:
- A results-oriented professional with a knack for networking and excellent written and communication skills.
- Superior organizational skills and strategic planning abilities.
- Demonstrated business instincts and financial analysis skills.
- Proficient negotiator with logistics expertise.
- Specialized industry knowledge and strong adherence to strategic planning.
- A minimum tertiary qualification of B.Com.
