Job Summary
Description:
Hire Resolve is currently seeking a Mine Closure Specialist for our client, a prominent mining company located in KwaZulu-Natal. The Mine Closure Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring that mining operations transition seamlessly to closure, implementing best practices in rehabilitation and compliance with environmental regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive mine closure plans, ensuring alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct environmental assessments to identify impacts and propose effective rehabilitation strategies.
- Work closely with mining operations and environmental teams to oversee the implementation of closure activities.
- Engage with local communities and stakeholders to address concerns and communicate progress related to mine closure.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation necessary for regulatory approvals and audits.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation efforts and make improvements as needed.
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Degree/Diploma in Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 5 years' experience in mine closure, rehabilitation, or environmental management preferably within the Environmental Consulting Sector.
- Registered with SACNASP/EAPASA
- Strong understanding of applicable mine closure and financial provisioning legislation and regulations and how the regulations are practically implemented
- Good understanding of rehabilitation techniques
- Ability to write technical rehabilitation reports
- Knowledge of GIS systems and modelling software (Global Mapper)
Benefits:
- Salary: R480K-R600K per year
