Job Summary
Basic Requirements:
- Formal Tertiary education: Grade 12; N. Dip (Electrical Engineering); N. Dip (Mechatronics); B.Eng. (Mechatronics) or similar
- Languages:
- English – Read, write and speak (required)
- Afrikaans – Read, write and speak (optional)
- German – Read, write and speak (optional)
- Drivers Licence: Code 8- (required or higher)
Experience:
- 5+ years of PLC programming experience in the automotive industry
- PLC logic and programming with any of the following PLCs: Siemens, Beckhoff, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, etc.
- Experience with Interfacing SCADA, motion control, Robotic and measuring systems to PLC applications
- Computer and PLC system configuration knowledge and understanding
- Able to create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming simulation, testing and start up
- Work logically and systematically and apply problem solving techniques to gain purposeful and conclusive resolve
- Practical understanding and ability to trouble shoot electrical circuitry
- Sound understanding of facility commissioning requirements with at least 2 years exposure in projects environment
- Practical usage of MS Office software or similar
- Confidently interface and communicate with other technical professionals.
Job Objectives:
- Ensuring on-time completion of projects
- Managing programming teams to ensure that the project is completed in accordance with the scope
- Enforcing company policies and procedures
- Ensuring that machines are tested and validated before customer acceptance
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Define programming milestones and enforce that they are achieved
- Ensuring that team has the support required to fulfil the project scope
- Give accurate feedback to superiors
- Ensuring that control system documentation is completed upon project completion
- Attend & positively contribute in relevant project related meetings
- Liaise confidently & constructively with customers from time to time during projects
- Provide production support on project where need be
- Travel locally & internationally, to assist installation & commissioning of facilities on site
- Integrate/interface to other site machines (Serial, Digital, Ethernet, Profi-bus etc)
- Modify & adjust existing programs
- Understand and comprehend facility purpose and objectives
- Assist fellow employees remotely or on-site when required.
