Overview
As our Chef, you will work with the teams to develop and deliver a world-class dining experience to our guests.
Responsibilities
- Working with the Head Chef to ensure the kitchen teams are well run and delivering a world-class dining experience
- Working with the Head Chef to lead, guide and grow Thornybush Game Lodge kitchen team members
- During certain services, you are required to oversee the kitchen operation and ensure all team members deliver as required
- You will need to assist the kitchen team with adapting menus to certain dietary requirements
- Operationally you will be required to prepare meals with the team
- Assisting the Head Chef with overseeing the stock of each kitchen
- Working with the Lodge Managers to ensure our guests’ overall 5* experience
Requirements
- Experience in a similar role (no less than 5 years experience)
- Experience in working in a 5* lodge
- Experience with leading a team
- Relevant culinary qualification
- Proficient in the English language
- Clear criminal record
Technical Skills
- Excellent Chef across all kitchens (hot, cold and pastry)
- Ability to adapt meals to the required dietary needs
- Conceptual, able to create seasonal menus
- Understanding of Health and Safety standards in a kitchen
- Understanding how to reduce kitchen waste

Position Details
- Contract type: Permanent
- Site: Thornybush Game Lodge (Hoedspruit)
- Work Cycle: 6 weeks on : 2 weeks off
- We provide: Accommodation + uniform + meals on duty
- Remuneration: Cash + Provident Fund (7,5%)
