Job Summary
A leading food manufacturing company situated in the Gauteng is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced Production Manager to join their team.
The successful incumbent for this position will be responsible for:
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees through engagement in order to strive for zero accidents.
- Ensure employees are trained and clear on safety expectations, including, but not limited to, completion of behavioural based safety observations, workplace exams, safety meetings, and other safety communication.
- Monitor product quality, issues, and changes, correcting any deficiencies. Monitor, control, and manage scrap produced to facilitate reductions and increase yields.
- Implement, lead, coach and actively facilitate AM Progression from AM step 0 to step 7
- Drive structured problem solving for incidents and continuous improvement initiatives
- Promote an open environment for quality and safety continuous improvement while holding a level of individual accountability.
- Responsible for providing interpretation of the policies, procedures, and contract language for the production department in coordination with plant resources.
- Assist other departments in achieving their specific objectives through participation, counselling, and support.
- Achieve high levels of asset intensity by reducing unplanned stops, speed loss, waste generation, and optimizing planned downtime performance.
- Strong organizational skills needed as well as ability to collaborate with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
Key requirements:
- Technical qualification (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial or Electrical)
- 5 years of Manufacturing experience in FMCG, preference will be given to candidates with experience in a Food Manufacturing plant
- Solid experience in executing Lean Manufacturing of TPM/IL6S with a minimum green belt certification
- Demonstrated Leadership skills to effectively lead a group of people
- Good interpersonal skills, self-awareness, people development, self-drive, business acumen, and influential skills at all levels in an organization
- Understanding or exposure to industrial relations and employee engagement
