Job Summary
Job duties & responsibilities: Develop and implement the QA/QC plan for the project, including quality standards, procedures, and inspection protocols. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure that quality requirements are integrated into the project plan. Identify quality-related risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Oversee the execution of quality control activities, including inspections, testing, and monitoring of construction and commissioning processes. Ensure that all materials, equipment, and workmanship comply with project specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality standards. Prepare and maintain comprehensive QA/QC documentation, including inspection reports, test results, and quality control records. Track and report on quality performance, including non-conformances, corrective actions, and preventive measures. Ensure that all QA/QC documentation is accurate, complete, and readily accessible for review. Identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues and non-conformances that arise during the project. Implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality concerns and improve processes. Conduct post-project reviews to assess quality performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Ensure that all QA/QC activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Promote a culture of quality and safety on site by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures. Conduct safety and quality training for project staff to enhance awareness and adherence to quality standards. Lead and manage the QA/QC team, including inspectors, technicians, and quality personnel. Provide guidance and support to team members, addressing any issues or challenges that arise. Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration on quality matters. Evaluate and approve suppliers and contractors based on their ability to meet quality standards and requirements. Monitor and assess the quality of work performed by subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and project specifications. Serve as the primary point of contact for quality-related queries and coordination with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on quality performance, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project objectives. Education and Work experience: National Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in Quality Assurance/Control (e.g., CQI, CQE) are advantageous. At least 10 years of experience within mining, specifically mineral processing industry.
