My client a Large Sugarcane Estate in Uganda with numerous expansion projects in progress is recruiting for an experienced and well qualified EXpat - Irrigation Projects Installation / Maintenance Manager with a proven track record in Agricultural Irrigation installations and maintenance.

Requirements

• A Degree in Agricultural Engineering from a recognized Institution
• A minimum of five (5) years in pumps, center pivots and pipelines installation and maintenance.
• Good knowledge in different types of pumps, center pivots, sprinkler irrigation, pipelines and associated fittings.
• Good task allocation and supervisory skills, good record keeping, report writing skills and good communication skills.
• Communication Skills: The position demands constant interactions with employees, management, and stakeholders throughout the business and, therefore, communication skills are an absolute necessity.
• Ms Office: A candidate for this position must be proficient in the use of CAD, Ms Word, Ms Excel, and PowerPoint, all necessary for the creation of not only visually but verbally engaging materials, reports, presentations, and proposals for departmental heads and management, stakeholders.
• Analytical Skills: A candidate for this position must be capable of gathering and interpreting raw information and data, documenting findings, and drawing appropriate recommendations.
• Interpersonal Skills: The candidate must be a helpful, calm and professional individual and demonstrate calmness during times of uncertainty.
• People Skills: individual who is able to gunner the trust and respect of departmental heads and management

Overall purpose of the job

To provide engineering services effectively, cost efficiently and to expected quality and standards in the following operations:

• Irrigation pumps and related equipment installation and maintenance
• Overhead sprinkler irrigation systems installation and maintenance
• Center pivot irrigation systems installation and maintenance
• Irrigation reticulation pipelines installation and maintenance
• Electrical repairs and maintenance in liaison with Factory Electrical Department
• All projects related to the above areas of responsibility

Key Responsibilities

• Implement irrigation projects by installing new pump stations equipment, center pivots, pipelines, infield equipment and related infrastructure.
• Managing the repairs and planned maintenance of pumping equipment for efficient irrigation water supply.
• Oversee the maintenance of sprinkler and center pivot irrigation systems on the Estate.
• Ensure proper and timely maintenance of all irrigation related electrical equipment in liaison with the Factory electrical team.
• Research new technological advancements in the industry and adopt appropriate ones in the workplace.
• Prepare and manage operational budgets for the section.
• Ensure proper management of Decision Information Systems related to irrigation equipment and infrastructure.
• Management of subordinates to ensure high productivity
• Ensure and enforce Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management systems of the company in the workplace
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Irrigation and Drainage Manager and Senior Management.
