Job Summary
Job Title: Toolmaker - Plastic
Location: Gauteng, South Africa
Hire Resolve's client is seeking a skilled Toolmaker with extensive experience working with plastic materials to join their team in Germiston, Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining molds and tooling for plastic injection molding processes. The Toolmaker will work closely with engineers and production teams to ensure that molds meet quality standards and production requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to design and build molds for plastic injection molding processes
- Operate manual and CNC machines to build molds and tooling components
- Troubleshoot and repair molds to ensure consistent quality and performance
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to optimize mold designs for production efficiency
- Perform regular maintenance on molds to extend their lifespan and prevent downtime
- Document all mold maintenance and repair activities for record-keeping and future reference
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols in all mold-related work
Requirements:
- Trade qualification in Toolmaking or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in plastic mold making
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the plastic industry
- Proven experience as a Toolmaker with a focus on plastic materials
- Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machines for mold making
- Strong understanding of plastic injection molding processes and tooling requirements
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
