Job Summary
This global company is a leader in the manufacturing industry, specialising in providing innovative solutions to customers in the mining and industrial sectors.
As the Head of Finance, you will play a pivotal role in managing the full financial accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and implementing robust financial controls. This role also involves overseeing cost accounting activities and providing strategic financial insights to guide business decisions. You will work closely with senior management to support the company’s financial objectives and lead a dedicated finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the full financial accounting function, including preparation of financial statements, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Manage and oversee cost accounting processes, including product costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to monitor and control manufacturing costs.
- Develop and implement cost control measures to improve profitability.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying and addressing variances.
- Prepare detailed financial analyses and reports.
- Identify financial risks and implement appropriate controls to mitigate them.
- Ensure the company’s financial policies and procedures are compliant with relevant legislation.
- Present financial information, reports, and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
- Oversee and provide strategic direction for other departments (for example HR and IT).
- Lead and develop the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Registered Chartered Accountant (SA) ESSENTIAL.
- Experience in a senior financial role, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
- Experience in financial accounting.
- Experience in cost accounting would be an advantage.
- Proven management experience managing.
- Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems.
