Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Engineering Artisans - Mechanical Fitters to join our team. You will play a crucial role in the manufacturing, assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment for our solvent recovery and recycling systems. We have positions available for both Red Seal qualified mechanical fitters and semi-skilled mechanical fitters. (Experience in paint shop environments will be beneficial for this position.)
Responsibilities
- Manufacture, assemble, install, and maintain mechanical equipment, including pumps, valves, conveyors, and piping systems.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications to determine assembly and installation requirements.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, identifying the root cause and implementing effective solutions.
- Perform regular maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal performance of machinery and systems.
- Dismantle, repair, and replace defective or worn-out components.
- Align and test mechanical components to ensure proper operation and functionality.
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to provide input for process improvements and resolve technical challenges.
- Follow safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including maintenance logs, time spent, and materials used.
- Keep tools and work areas clean and organized.
Qualifications/Requirements
- For Red Seal qualified positions: Relevant trade certification (Red Seal) in Mechanical Fitting or equivalent.
- For semi-skilled positions: Relevant experience and proficiency in mechanical fitting tasks.
- Proven experience (7+ years) working as a mechanical fitter, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment.
- Experience in the assembly, installation, and repair of mechanical machinery and components.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is an advantage.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Capability to work independently or as part of a team.
