POSITION: Pattern Maker
DEPARTMENT: Pattern Shop
REPORTING TO: Foundry Manager
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Gr. 12 (with Mathematics) preferred
• Trade Certificate as a Pattern Maker
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 2 years working as an Artisan in the industry after achieving a Trade Certificate
SPECIFIC SKILLS
• Verbal and written Communication skills in English as a minimum. Afrikaans an advantage
• Able to interpret Engineering drawings
• Knowledge of wood cutting machines and equipment
• Knowledge of Foundry production
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Excellent Attention to Detail
• Strong numeracy skills
• Use of measuring equipment related to Pattern Making
• Ability to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision
• Work shifts and overtime when required
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Safety & operational inspection of equipment prior to use
• Use of general hand tools & checking for damage
• Use conventional wood cutting machines
• Interpretation of engineering drawings
• General pattern maintenance
• Check incoming pattern equipment/patterns/castings to drawings
• Fitting & maintenance of pattern identification
• Repair & modify old patterns & produce new patterns as deemed necessary
• Pattern assembly & finishing
• Fitting of running & feeding systems
• Assist in the fitting of cores & closing in the Foundry
• Oversee trials & supervise closing of moulds in Foundry
• Ensure identification, running systems & feeding aides are correct before clearing patterns for production
• Work to production plan & achieve planned targets
• Work in accordance with HR, Quality & SHE Policies
• Carry out any other work, within reason, as per Supervisor’s instructions
