Our client, a leader in the distribution of fasteners is seeking a Storeman to join their team based in Richards Bay.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12
- Relevant certification in Stores Management –NQF Level 4
- Computer Literacy
- Relevant administrative experience (18-24 months)
MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS
STORES CONTROL FUNCTION
- Executes specific applications associated with controlling the receiving, storage and issue of stock items, by
- Checking the supplier documentation against physical items and verifying quantity and specifications prior to acknowledging receipt or recording short delivery/ damages on the documentation.
- Coding stock received in accordance with control procedures and positioning items in the appropriate location.
- Attending to the rotation of stock based on ‘first in –first out principles’ and positioning items taking into consideration “shelf life span”.
- Monitoring stock levels against established safety stock levels, identifying with slow moving/ aged items and seeking approval on changes to stock control guidelines.
- Conducting stock counting sequences, applying control procedures using specific coding/ labels to indicated counted stock and quantities.
- Receiving and referring to approved transactional documentation to identify with requirements, accessing specific items and checks quantities prior to issue.
SUPERVISION AND CONTROL
- Co-ordinates and controls tasks/ activities associated with controlling personnel performance, productivity and discipline, by
- Monitoring attendance/ conduct and output and addressing deviations from agreed performance indicators through meetings/
counseling and/ or other approved methods designed to improve and motivate personnel.
- Establishing the adequacy and availability of personnel against
agreed outcomes and motivating to the immediate superior for additional resources.
- Providing “on the job” training for new recruits to the department.
- Addressing workplace conflict/ conduct through the initiation and
co-ordination of consultative processes and implementation of specific disciplinary procedures.
- Defining skill gap and training needs and activates procedural sequences aimed at developing and capacitating individuals.
SCHEDULES, RECORDS AND RECORDKEEPING
- Collating and verifying transactional documentation (requisitions, delivery notes, etc.) and forwarding to for further processing and/ or resolving queries on pricing/ discounts, etc, referring and making available necessary supporting documentation.
- Preparing stock schedules detailing the quantity of stock on hand detailing reason for specific variances and the nee for stock adjustment and forwarding for perusal, processing and approval.
- Updating stock registers and control sheets, reflecting opening balances, movement and stock on hand.
- Updating and maintaining records, filing transactional, instructional and procedural documentation in alpha-numeric sequence to facilitate retrieval.
