Job Summary
Receiving of Vehicles and Visitors into the Warehouse premises:
- One WOO will be dedicated to the site entrance, one WOO will be dedicated to the site exit and one WOO will be patrolling the inside of the warehouse and/or assisting with other operational duties as may be directed by the Warehouse Management Team.
- The WOO is responsible for access control to Irvine’s Africa Warehouse. They will grant access to the premises deliveries, and visitors with an appointment or for planned loads by liaising with the Warehouse Management Team when an empty truck arrives.
- Visitor logs need to be completed with accuracy on entrance and on exit of the facility.
- Conduct any screening requirement as may be necessary before allowing entry onto the site.
- All vehicles and staff will be searched on entrance and on exit of the premises to minimise theft.
- The WOO will control traffic of vehicles inside the premises by directing drivers.
· Direct loaded trucks onto the weighbridge, ensuring that the truck is in a good condition to transport the Company’s stock.
Securing the Warehouse premises:
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements, promote stability and maintain the upkeep of the reputation of Irvine’s Africa.
- The Warehouse Operations Officer (WOO), will patrol the Company property, monitor surveillance equipment for defects, and manage all entries and exits at the access control points. This should be done to secure the premises and staff by preventing access to unauthorized entities, to prevent theft and to create a safe environment for all Irvine’s employees and visitors to the site.
- While the WOO is patrolling the warehouse, he/she will visually check for any defects on the building or on equipment. Any defects will be immediately reported to the Warehouse Management.
- Any unauthorised people or persons exhibiting behaviour that may put Irvine’s Africa’s staff or property at risk, will be confronted. Unauthorised people will be escorted off the premises or authorised if there is a bona fide reason to be on the property.
- The WOO should always aim to prevent losses and damage to Irvine Africa’s property and staff by reporting irregularities or suspicious activity to the Warehouse Assistant Manager, informing violators of policy and procedures and by restraining trespassers.
- Any irregularity in terms of the safety and security of Irvine’s staff will be reported to the Warehouse Assistant Manager and if requested to do so, will file a report on the incident with the Warehouse Manager.
· The WOO will identify and report any damages to stock and property.
Other duties:
The WOO will always give priority to the function of security of the premises and access control.
There may be times when the WOO is not occupied with security or access control and in these circumstances, they may be required to contribute in other ways at the Company Warehouse.
When one WOO is dedicated to the entrance and one WOO to the exit of the Warehouse, another WOO should be patrolling the premises or be available to assist with other duties which will be delegated by the Warehouse Management Team.
Other duties include, but are not limited to:
Operational duties include but are not limited to the loading and off-loading of trucks, forklift operation, packing stock into allocated bin areas and staging of orders.
Housekeeping duties like sweeping.
