Job Summary
About the roleThis is an exciting opportunity for a recent LL.B graduate to gain valuable practical experience in a corporate legal environment. As a Legal Assistant, you will be part of the Youth Employment Services (YES) program and receive on-the-job training and mentorship. You will work closely with the Group Business & Legal Manager and support various roles within the Legal & Compliance department, including the Legal Associate, Company Secretarial Administrator, Business Processes and Information Manager, and Facilities Maintenance Coordinator & Risk.
Responsibilities
Assist the Legal Associate with legal research, contract review, and drafting basic agreements under supervision.
Support the Company Secretarial Administrator with tasks related to corporate governance, filing annual returns, and drafting resolutions.
Work with the Business Processes and Information Manager to understand and apply data privacy laws like POPIA and PAIA in practice.
Contribute to the development of internal policies and procedures related to legal compliance, data protection, and facilities management.
Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, document management, and preparing reports.
Participate in meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action items.
Learn about different aspects of the legal and compliance function within a corporate setting.
