Job Summary
THE ROLE
As a Data Centre Plant Specialist, you will be a subject matter expert supporting the maintenance and development of data centres, communications rooms and underlying digital infrastructure so that they are highly available, secure and fit-for-purpose.
the client works with a number of 3rd party organisations which must be managed appropriately, ensuring value for money and agreed service levels and deliverables are met.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Hands-on work in the data center environment, including temperature monitoring, cooling calculations, generators, power capacity, highly available services, server components, humidity, space planning, cabling, patching, labelling, deployment of racks and active equipment within including UPS devices and and other critical infrastructure.
- Monitoring data center and communications rooms, maintaining security standards and reporting on any deficiencies.
- Ability to work successfully within a team, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Creating and maintaining high-quality documentation and procedures, including work instructions and processes.
- Planning, and prioritising based on business need in a rapidly changing environment.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance On a daily basis. Complete preventative maintenance of equipment. Operate in tight spaces, run cables around assigned data centre.
- Engage in building projects and check utilities.
- Make sure the data centre does not overheat, by carefully examining power sources and heating and cooling controls.
- Provide live support to clients and co-workers, troubleshoot problems as they occur.
- You will be expected to rotate on a 12 hour shift as per schedules from management to ensure there is 24/7 support and monitoring available in the Data Centre.
OTHER
- You will be expected to familiarise yourself with and comply and adhere to ALL house rules and processes to ensure adherence to ISO compliance and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Proven experience within the Data Centre space.
- Must have electrical Trade Test Certificate
- Relevant electrical & Mechanical experience
- Knowledge in Data Centre infrastructure and environments.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Goal and target driven.
