Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced General Manager for Brand and Marketing to lead our dynamic team in developing and implementing innovative strategies that drive growth and enhance brand eminence. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in strategic brand management, marketing leadership, and a proven track record of success in diverse markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute comprehensive brand and marketing strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Utilize marketing insights to drive end-to-end segment strategies and predict market trends.
- Drive growth marketing through continuous experimentation and optimization of strategies and channels.
- Expand marketing scope to uncover untapped segments and leverage digital platforms for customer acquisition and retention.
- Measure and control marketing performance through key benchmarks and ROI analysis.
- Foster thought leadership and share best practices across business units and industry spaces.
- Oversee marketing governance and compliance across products, processes, and customer segments.
- Lead alignment sessions with business units to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Manage escalations impacting critical service delivery paths and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Act as a custodian of the brand and drive brand-centric initiatives across multiple business units.
- Lead digital marketing initiatives based on customer trends and agile methodologies.
- Establish marketing metrics and KPIs, providing regular performance dashboards and reporting to senior leadership.
- Develop and manage the brand and marketing budget for maximum ROI and cost efficiencies.
- Collaborate closely with finance teams in budgeting exercises and optimize resource allocation.
- Monitor costs and implement initiatives to increase efficiencies while meeting financial targets.
- Set integrated goals and objectives for the Brand and Marketing team to foster a high-performing organization.
- Attract, develop, and retain top talent while driving a culture of continuous improvement.
- Manage diversity and embed an Employment Equity plan within the business area.
Requirements:
- Must have completed a 4 year Commercial/Marketing/Business Degree
- MBA or Masters in relevant field of study is preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in strategic global brand management/Chief Marketing Officer, preferably in a multinational enterprise or FMCG.
- Proven track record in digital communication, media, and continuous improvement through best practices.
- Expertise in strategic leadership, brand and marketing management, customer segmentation, and partnership management.
- Telecommunications industry experience and Pan-Africa multicultural exposure are advantageous.
