FOUNDATION PHASE: GRADE 2 TEACHER POST

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join our Grade 2 team in the Foundation Phase. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Head of Grade, Departmental Head, and Principal, be able to work independently and requires minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Planning: Develop and plan lessons that align with educational standards and cater to the developmental needs of Grade 2 learners, incorporating various subjects like English, Mathematics, Afrikaans and Life Skills.
2. Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons using diverse teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, ensuring learners understand and retain the concepts being taught.
3. Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and organised classroom atmosphere that promotes respect, encourages positive behaviour and supports learning.
4. Assessment and Evaluation: Regularly assess learners using the different assessment techniques and use this data to adapt teaching strategies and provide feedback to learners and parents.
5. Individual Support: Identify learners who may need additional help and provide tailored instruction or intervention to support their academic and social development.
6. Communication: Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding their child’s progress, behaviour, and any concerns, fostering a collaborative relationship to support the learner’s education.
7. Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay updated with educational best practices to enhance teaching.
8. Student Engagement: Create a stimulating and supportive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning.
9. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, marks, and any incidents
to ensure proper tracking of each learners’ development and participation.
10. Safety and Welfare: Ensure the physical and emotional safety of learners by adhering to school policies, addressing conflicts, and promoting a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Holds a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree in Foundation Phase.
- SACE registered.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively in both English and Afrikaans.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with team members.
- Computer literate and excellent time management skills.
- Good Interpersonal/People/Emotional Intelligence Skills
