Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Developer II to join our development team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL, with experience in maintenance programming and enhancements. This role will involve a mix of development, maintenance, user support, and compliance with organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development & Maintenance:
- Develop new code for applications as needed .
- Maintain existing COBOL/CICS/DB2 programs to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
- Implement small enhancements to improve system capabilities and user experience.
- User Support:
- Assist users with queries and provide technical support to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and optimize application performance.
- Scheduling & Job Control:
- Utilize Control-M for job scheduling, ensuring timely execution of batch processes.
- Monitor scheduled jobs and take necessary actions to address failures or delays.
- After-Hours Support:
- Provide after-hours support and standby, responding promptly to critical issues as they arise.
- Compliance:
- Adhere to all Nedbank standards and processes in development and maintenance activities.
- Document all changes and enhancements in accordance with internal protocols.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficient in COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL with practical experience in the aforementioned technologies.
- Familiarity with Control-M job scheduling software.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in software development and maintenance, specifically in a legacy environment.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a financial services environment is a plus.
