Job Summary
Main purpose of the job:
- To support implementation of the Evaluation of Long Acting Injectable (LAI) and Teen clubs in adolescents (ATTUNE) project taking place across 4 Clinics in Tshwane
Location:
Key performance areas:
- Work closely with clinic staff and study management team to implement, monitor and evaluate study processes
- Provide oversight and guidance on the research interventions conducted by the peer navigators, CRAs, SSRAs and nursing staff
- Lead and coordinate Peer Navigators in the provision of psychosocial support, HIV education, appointment reminders, adherence support, sexual and reproductive health, and healthcare navigation
- Lead and coordinate nurses in the collection of samples and in the administration of long-acting injectable ART (LAI)
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of activities, ensuring compliance with relevant protocols and guidelines
- Provide support and mentorship to the Peer Navigators, fostering their professional growth and development
- Participate in regular team meetings across provinces and contribute to the overall success of the LAI-ATTUNE project
- Work in a multidisciplinary team and liaison with Community Representatives, Community Engagement, Department of Health, Shandukani CRS and other key stakeholders maintaining good partnerships between Wits RHI, DoH and other stakeholders
- Work closely with social workers in handling and solving of cases referred by Peer Navigators
- Support the PI in monitoring the progress of the project, ensuring timely delivery of milestones
- Coordinate communication between Peer Navigators, Social Science, and the Clinical Team, the four sites
- Provide oversight of the research interventions executed by the peer navigators, CRAs and nurses under the guidance of the PI
- Coordinate and troubleshoot operational activities
- To Perform quality assurance activities in accordance with the unit’s Clinical Quality Management Plan (CQMP) and Sponsor regulatory requirements and ICH GCP requirements
- Liaise with sponsors, serving as the first point of contact at the site, especially when new projects start
- Collect & analyse site data, and submit appropriate reports to management team
- Provide regular study performance updates to staff
- Integrate feedback into project implementation plan and subsequent progress reports
- Identify and escalate sites issues to management team as needed
- Contribute to development of study-wide communications resources
- Ensure all key personnel are trained, and maintain documentation on the same for audit purposes
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, feedback and support to staff
- Participate in ongoing mentorship programmes initiated by other Wits RHI stakeholders
- Work with study management team to periodically assess quality of services offered at all 4 sites, through the study
- Develop work plans with clear timelines for addressing the identified needs and priorities
Required minimum education and training:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a Scientific field
Required minimum work experience:
- 2-3 years relevant experience in a research environment and coordinating different sites
- Previous experience as a study or project coordinator
- Proficiency in MS Office
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
- Quality Assurance and Control experience desirable
- GCP training
- Able to work independently in a high pressure environment
- Ability to work collaboratively in large, complex, multi-departmental, cross-functional teams
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail
- Good communication skills
