Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a highly skilled Roaming IT Support Technician for a luxury property group based in Cape Town, with extensive travel required to various remote locations where the group operates. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about technology and the natural world.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Conduct both on-site and remote troubleshooting for network, server, and hardware issues
Perform regular infrastructure health checks to ensure minimal downtime
Support all systems in use across the group’s operations
Provide fast and efficient support to users
Assist in installing, updating, and maintaining desktop and laptop systems
Deployment & Configuration
Set up, configure, and upgrade infrastructure components including servers, routers, switches, and firewalls
Ensure alignment with company standards during all deployment tasks
Assist in large-scale rollouts of IT infrastructure across multiple sites
Monitoring & Reporting
Monitor infrastructure performance and security proactively
Provide detailed reports on infrastructure status and recurring issues
Collaborate with IT teams to improve monitoring tools
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
Liaise with onsite staff and vendors to address infrastructure needs
Offer on-site and remote end-user support
Participate in cross-functional project planning and implementation
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
Maintain thorough documentation of infrastructure components and processes
Share knowledge and train local IT staff to enhance efficiency
Create best practices and SOPs for consistent infrastructure operations
Compliance & Risk Management
Adhere to IT policies and security standards
Identify vulnerabilities and propose improvements
Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning
Candidate Profile:
Qualifications:
Matric (High School Diploma)
Relevant IT qualification
CompTIA N+ Certification preferred
Experience:
5–8 years in a similar technical support position
Minimum 5 years’ experience working with Azure, Active Directory, DNS, and Office 365
Strong background in resolving network and site-down issues
Proven experience in a Level 3 support role
Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized, methodical, and detail-oriented
Team player with excellent interpersonal abilities
