JOB PURPOSE

The incumbent holding this position would be responsible to:
Extend assistance to teaching staff to ensure that academic activities are completed within due course of time andwithin stated guidelines and principles.
Respectful caregiving and support of students whilst managing their nutritional, health and safety needs.

Working hours
3 FULL DAYS: 7:00 - 17:30
2 HALF DAYS: 7:00 - 13:30

Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the teacher/practitioner in developing and effectively managing the class program, ensuring adherence to all theactivities.
Assist in stimulation, playtime, changing, nap time, etc.
Manage the equipment set up for classes and maintain safe and tidy learning spaces for the students.
Daily cleaning of the classroom and equipment.
Assisting with potty training and ensuring health standards are met with changing of nappies, and cleaning faces and hands.
Assists with laying out of beds and bedding daily in preparation for sleep time.
Ensuring students’ belongings are kept safe.
Help in the execution of class events, trips, and activities.
Understand individual nutritional and learning requirements of students and deliver the required services.
Manage food preparation and bottle serving for the students.
Communicate with teachers and parents to keep them informed about the child’s nutritional, health and safety needsand any changes to the regular day-to-day schedule.
Train students for the use of the toilet, eating, and other related actions for effective nurturing.

Respectful Caregiving and Discipline:
Nurturing self-regulation as a function of attuned relationships and responsiveexchanges supported by co-regulation strategies and the promotion of executive function skills. This extends to usingco-regulation strategies as fundamental to disciplining children. Ensuring continuity of care and nurturing a secureattachment to significant adults within reliable, warm, loving relationships and respectful caregiving.
Help students adjust, learn and socialize and report to teachers about possible behavioural issues.

Required Qualification
Minimum NQF Level 4 qualification

Work Experience
Up to 1 year of relevant experience
