Job Summary
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated SAP Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, executing, and managing data pipelines responsible for migrating data across SAP systems. Your primary objective will be to ensure the accurate and complete migration of data from our legacy systems while maintaining data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory standards. What youâ€ll do: Develops and maintains scalable data pipelines and builds out new integrations to migrate data from our legacy systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, SAP consultants, and project managers, to build data migration pipelines and identify requirements for successful data migration. Analyze source data from various legacy systems and map it to target systems. Perform Data Cleansing activities. Evaluate data quality, identify inconsistencies, and perform data cleansing activities to eliminate errors and inaccuracies. Perform Data Validation activities. Implement validation procedures to verify data accuracy post-migration. Implement performance optimization. Optimize data migration processes to minimize downtime and ensure efficient transfer of data within agreed timelines. Ensure data security and privacy by implementing appropriate access controls and encryption techniques during data migration. Perform error handling and troubleshooting during migration. Proactively identify and resolve issues that may arise during data migration, ensuring minimal impact on business operations. Perform thorough testing and validation. Plan and execute data migration tests to validate the accuracy and completeness of migrated data, collaborating with business users to ensure data meets business requirements. Propose and implement process improvements to enhance data migration efficiency and quality. Ability to troubleshoot data related issues and assist team members in the resolution of data issues. Maintain technical and operational metadata during data migration development. Experience in advanced query performance and query optimisation. Can develop complex SQL to implement complex business logic. Work with internal and external stakeholders on the project to assist with data migration related issues. Your expertise: Strong understanding of SAP applications including SAP CRM, SAP ECC, and other related SAP solutions Good functional knowledge of SAP modules like MM, SD, PP, etc 5+ years of experience as a SAP Data Migration Specialist or a similar role, with hands-on experience in multiple SAP data migration projects Proficiency in data mapping, ETL, and data transformation using tools like SAP Data Services, SAP LSMW, or third-party ETL tools 5+ years of development experience in SAP Data Services 5+ years of SQL experience Information Steward background would be beneficial Informatica development experience would be beneficial Teradata development experience would be beneficial Knowledge of the latest SAP data migration best practices, tools, and technologies SAP certification(s) in relevant modules or data migration will be considered a plus Solid knowledge of data quality management and data cleansing techniques Qualifications: Diploma in IT / BTech in IT / BSc degree in Computer Science or Information Systems Other information applicable to the opportunity: Contract Position: 6 Months (renewable) Location: Johannesburg Hybrid (2 days in office)
