Job Summary
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Oversee inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock is available for delivery while minimising excess inventory.
• Develop and implement training programs for drivers and logistics staff to enhance skills and ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
• Identify potential risks in the logistics process and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Monitor and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by maintaining delivery accuracy and timeliness.
• Develop and execute contingency plans to handle logistics disruptions due to unforeseen circumstances, such as natural disasters or supply chain interruptions.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics operations and regularly review performance against these metrics.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant local, national, and international regulations, including transportation and environmental laws.
• Efficiently allocate resources, such as vehicles and personnel, to meet operational demands.
• Work closely with other departments, such as sales, procurement, and production, to ensure seamless integration of logistics activities.
• Conduct regular performance reviews of logistics staff, providing feedback and guidance for improvement.
• Manage the process for handling customer returns and reverse logistics.
• Provide regular fleet reports.
• Monitor truck trackers and report non-conformances.
• Monitor and control transportation costs, including fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, and vehicle repairs, to optimise budget allocation.
• Oversee maintenance schedules for vehicles and forklifts, coordinating repairs and inspections to minimize downtime. Ensure daily check sheets are signed off and filed.
Qualifications & Experience required:
• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Logistics Manager or in a similar role, typically 5+ years.
• Familiarity with warehouse management and inventory control practices.
• Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles.
• Proficiency in route planning, fleet management, and vehicle maintenance.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
