Job Summary:
Hire Resolve is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented ASIB Certified Consultant/Draughtsman to join our client's Fire Design, Engineering, and Construction team. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and drafting fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and providing technical expertise in fire safety solutions. This role requires strong knowledge of fire engineering practices, the ability to produce detailed designs, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Fire Protection System Design:
- Design and draft fire protection systems for a variety of projects including commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
- Create detailed fire protection layouts, including sprinkler systems, fire alarms, emergency lighting, and ventilation systems.
- Ensure designs comply with ASIB, SANS, and local regulatory requirements.
Consultation and Technical Support:
- Provide expert advice and recommendations on fire safety and protection systems to clients, architects, and engineers.
- Conduct site assessments to determine fire protection requirements and solutions.
- Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure designs are accurately implemented.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure that all designs and documentation meet relevant industry standards, codes of practice, and regulations (including ASIB and SANS).
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications for fire protection systems.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of compliance documentation to relevant authorities.
Project Management and Coordination:
- Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure that fire protection systems are integrated seamlessly into building projects.
- Monitor the progress of ongoing projects to ensure that fire protection designs are implemented correctly and on schedule.
Quality Control:
- Conduct quality checks and inspections during installation to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Address any issues or discrepancies that arise during the installation and commissioning phases.
Training and Development:
- Stay updated with the latest developments in fire protection engineering and industry regulations.
- Provide training and mentoring to junior draughtsmen and technicians as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- ASIB Certification (Essential).
- A relevant qualification in Fire Engineering, Draughting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection system design and draughting.
- Strong knowledge of SANS and ASIB standards and regulations.
- Experience in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant draughting software.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in design and documentation.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in the installation and commissioning of fire protection systems.
- Familiarity with other fire protection software tools (e.g., Hydratec).
- Project management skills.
