SA Metal is a large privately-owned metal recycling company with its headquarters in Cape Town and operations in the Western Cape and Gauteng. The Group has a vacancy for an analytical, hardworking and dynamic individual to join the Finance team as a Junior Cost Accountant. The successful candidate will report directly to the Cost Accountant and be based at our Head Office in Epping, Cape Town.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to

• Maintain an integrated costing system / report with specified primary and secondary cost centres
• Review and maintain data accumulation systems and controls needed for the cost accounting system and reporting within an accounting framework on a monthly basis
• Analysis of expenses and ensure allocation to correct primary and secondary cost centres
• Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances
• Provide reports and explanations to line management
• Reviewing overhead costs to ensure correct allocation and reporting
• Produce operational costing calculations – i.e. transport job costing and tender costing
• Produce profitability calculation for manufacturing divisions
• Capital project cost tracking

Qualifying Criteria

• National Diploma in Cost Accounting majoring in Costing
• Previous experience in a Costing environment is essential
• Knowledge and/or experience working on AccPac, TM1 Cognos and Fraxion advantageous
• Advanced computer literacy – MS Office, high proficiency in MS Excel
• Manufacturing and/or Logistic background advantageous
• Emotionally matured and dynamic individual
• Ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to collaborate with a multi-department team
• Must have clear credit and criminal clearance
