Job Summary
Mafriq is a newly formed international trading business who specialises in the export of FMCG's, fruit and vegetables, meat, wines and building materials to over 45 countries throughout the world.
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Creditors Controller to manage our company's payable accounts and ensure timely and accurate payment processing. The Creditors Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounts payable, including invoice verification, reconciliation, and vendor management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
This position will be based in Grand Bay in Mauritius and will be reporting to the Financial Executive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable Management: Oversee the accounts payable process from receipt of invoices to payment disbursement, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Invoice Verification: Verify the accuracy of invoices, purchase orders, and other payment requests, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Payment Processing: Process payments to vendors and suppliers within established payment terms, utilizing electronic payment systems and ensuring proper authorisation.
- Vendor Management: Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, addressing any inquiries or concerns regarding payments and resolving issues promptly.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile payable accounts and resolve any outstanding balances or discrepancies, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Expense Management: Monitor and control company expenses, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax regulations, accounting standards, and internal controls related to accounts payable processes.
- Reporting: Generate regular reports on accounts payable aging, cash flow projections, and other relevant metrics for management review.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the finance team and cross-functional departments to support company goals and initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in accounts payable, preferably in a commodity trading or similar industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software, preferably Syspro and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Mauritian tax regulations and compliance requirements (preferred).
Salary will be market related and based on experience.
