Job Summary
A leading Insurance company based in Johannesburg is seeking a Group Finance Manager with IFRS 17 experience to join their team of industry experts
The successful incumbent for this position will be responsible for Reporting to Senior Management and the role will be overseeing the entire finance function, which includes, budgeting/accounting (in line with IFRS) as well as being responsible for profit allocation and all related reporting and this includes the bridging from BAU to IFRS 17
A key focus area for this position will entail IFRS 17 reporting, so knowledge in this area is essential
- Approve all General Ledger entries for the IAA trial balance and non-standard reversing journals as and when needed
- Approve General Ledger reconciliations
- Take full responsibility for the IFRS 17 accounting and reporting design including General Ledger, reconciliations, Management accounts, and Journal entries “bridge” from BAU to IFRS 17
- Analyse data and ensure completeness and accuracy of data received from Operational Finance to process the General Ledger entries
- Oversee the preparation of the annual budget of Premiums, Claims and Commission liaising with the Head of Actuarial for key assumptions, and ensuring the accuracy of the Budget model used.
- Responsible for Premiums, Claims and Commission input in the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements.
- Collaborate with subject experts on the preparation of Annual Financial Statements in line with IFRS17
Key requirements:
- At least 5 years of working experience in a similar role
- Experience in financial reporting
- Experience in a financial services industry – long-term insurance is preferable
- Experience within an IFRS technical accounting environment is advantageous, but not a requirement
- Knowledge of the Long term insurance industry is preferable
- Good technical accounting knowledge of IFRS
- Able to work with budget models and understand the key drivers
- Is adept in the use of the latest MS Office package, particularly Excel, Word and Power-point
- Knowledge of the Great Plains is an advantage
- Qualified CA(SA)
- 3-5 Years Post Article Experience
