Job Summary
An Investment Company established to create a sustainable asset base for the benefit of mine, energy and construction workers and their dependents is looking for an Impact Investments Analyst to join their team in Johannesburg.
Responsibilities
- To assist the Chief Investment Officer and/or the Impact Investments Manager on specific projects as determined by the Chief Investment Officer or the Impact Investments Manager and to provide technical support on such projects
- To assist with the identification, research and evaluation of investment opportunities that comply with the Company’s impact investment objectives
- To assist with the structuring of new transactions, raise funding, enter into negotiations and reach legal and commercial agreement with target companies, and to implement the transactions (with assistance from the Impact Investments Manager and/or the Chief Investment Officer)
- Assist with the performance of due diligence processes on target companies
- Perform research on the industries that the group’s impact investee companies operate in and industries that the group would like to invest in, in terms of its strategy
- To assist in the performance of quarterly reviews of the group’s impact investment portfolio based on financial and other information received from investee companies including the preparation of the investment reports
- Assist with the performance of internal bi-annual valuations of the group’s impact investments for inclusion in the management accounts
- To report and take instructions from the Executives of the Group from time to time in discharging duties to the Company
Requirements- CA (SA) or BCom/BSc Honours degree holder or CFA Charterholder or CFA (in progress)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in private equity, corporate finance, leveraged finance, asset management, impact investments, or management consulting
- Strong demonstrable analytical skills complemented by research skills
- Accomplished problem solving, communication and presentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Particularly Excel, Outlook, Word & PowerPoint
- Advanced FactSet or Thomson Reuters (Refinitiv) or Bloomberg Terminal operational capability
- Exposure to valuations or due diligences is critical
- Adaptable
- Self-starter
