Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst - Financial Engineering

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Financial Analyst to join our team in Johannesburg. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for providing strategic financial insights and analysis to support our business growth and decision-making processes. The successful candidate will possess excellent statistical/analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of financial systems and processes.
Purpose of Role:
Advanced financial modeling; develop statistical models that can be used to quantify the correlation between risk and overall portfolio dynamics (i.e. migrations, volume/balance transitions between the respective collections states, overall risk emergence, etc.); cash-flow forecasting on existing and expected new sales portfolios. Automation, monitoring, and governance checks of models, strategy, budget variances, and operational key metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform financial analysis and modeling to support business forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and providing insights to senior management.
- Conduct variance analysis on financial results, identifying areas of improvement and recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop financial performance metrics and monitoring systems.
- Support the development of business cases and financial justifications for new projects and initiatives.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and provide relevant financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Conduct financial due diligence for potential acquisitions, partnerships, or other strategic initiatives.
- Prepare and present financial reports and presentations to senior management and stakeholders.
- Participate in the development and improvement of financial models and forecasting techniques.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and corporate governance requirements.
- Monitor and provide strategic insights on key market trends and competitor analysis.
- Coach and mentor junior financial analysts, fostering their professional development within the team.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Hons Quantitative Degree (Minimum)
- A Master's degree or similar professional certification - (eg. CFA, RE1 or similar) preferred
- 4 years of Statistical Modeling experience in the financial sector; working knowledge of Financial- and Impairment modeling.
- Proven working experience as a Financial Analyst, ideally in a similar senior role.
- Excellent understanding of financial statements, financial modeling, and financial forecasting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data and provide actionable recommendations.
- Proficiency in financial analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SAP, ERP systems).
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and corporate governance.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to collaborate and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in conducting financial due diligence for mergers and acquisitions is a plus.
- Knowledge of the South African financial market and regulations is preferred but not required.
