Job Summary
Hire Resolve's Client, a reputable mining company, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Superintendent of Financial Reporting in Risk and Governance. Joining their dynamic team in a beautiful location, you will play an integral role in ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting.
The Superintendent Financial Reporting: Risk and Governance is accountable for overseeing and enhancing operational assurance for both financial and non-financial internal controls. This entails developing appropriate assurance frameworks to ensure regulatory compliance, identifying and managing enterprise risks, and improving reporting and related processes to maintain accurate financial and non-financial information management and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in, and lead interventions aimed at contributing to a culture of Zero Harm by adhering to and ensuring compliance with specified legislation, SHE policies and procedures and, operational standards, instructions and governance requirements
- Actively engage in and demonstrate Visible Felt Leadership aligned to operational SHE standards, operational campaigns and instructions schedule and conduct regular operational safety, safe work practice and operational delivery inspections ensuring appropriate remediation interventions are executed
- Implement and maintain internal control systems to ensure compliance with regulations and standards, both local and international
- Work with risk owners and conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential enterprise level risks and develop and recommend strategies to mitigate them
- Ensure all operational activities remain compliant to applicable and prescribed regulations, standards and internal policies and procedures
- Continuously review and improve internal controls and procedures for both financial and non-financial data
- Monitor and report on progress made with close-out of internal and external audit findings and recommendations
- Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and implementation of recommended changes
- Prepare and present reports on internal control status and improvements to senior management
- Provide guidance and training to staff of the company on internal control best practices
- Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audits
- Act as an advisor to management on issues relating to internal controls, risk management, and compliance
- Drive enhancements required on leveraging best practice systems within the Governance and Risk environment
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent NQF Level 7 related qualification
- Professional registration with a recognised financial body such as CA, CIMA, CPA, etc.
- Extensive experience in finance, with a strong background in internal controls and risk management, preferably within the mining industry or related field
- Knowledge of South African Financial Regulations and International Financial Standards (IFS)
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the The Company's Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

- Accomplished team and people leader with advanced inter and intra-team collaboration and, sound spoken and written English communication skills
- Established track record in leading and managing teams, including proficiency in change management
- Ability to cope with ambiguity with high personal resilience, change adaptability and attention to details
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in financial software (SAP)
