Job Summary
Overview:
Our client, a well-established hedge fund in South Africa with a long history of delivering excellent returns, is seeking an Assistant Financial Manager – CA(SA) to oversee management accounts, financial operations, audit facilitation, and tax compliance. This role involves preparing annual financial statements, collaborating on process automation with the data team, and ensuring regulatory adherence in a dynamic office environment.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of management accounts, associated financial function (payments, debtors, creditors) including consolidation calculations and monthly reporting to directors of the figures
- Preparation of accounting/tax technical opinions as and when necessary
- Facilitation of internal and external audit function
- Preparation of annual financial statements
- Preparation of income tax returns
- Working with the data team on automation of various elements within the finance team’s processes to help speed up processes and manage workload
Requirements:
- CA (SA) – newly qualified or 1-2 years’ experience
- Strong technical knowledge – Accounting (including Group accounting), IFRS and tax and willingness and ability to keep up to date on developments
- Willing to develop a thorough understanding of regulation as it pertains to investment management, in particular hedge funds, where relevant to the finance function – For example capital adequacy requirements, AFS disclosure
- Capable of working overtime, including weekends, when needed
- Able to travel as and when necessary
- Able to work in the office full time (generally a minimum of 4 x week)
- Capability to perform effectively in an open-plan environment, which may occasionally be noisy
Knowledge:
