Qualified CA(SA).
* 5+ years of experience in a finance environment, with at least 3 years in audit management.
* 3 years of leadership or management experience (preferred).
* Retail industry experience is a plus.
* Strong understanding of financial controls and governance.
* Knowledge of the business, industry trends, and key stakeholders.
* Experience with accounting for foreign currencies and consolidations is desirable.
* Advanced proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, and financial systems.
* Willingness to travel across Africa on an ad-hoc basis.
* South African citizenship is required
* 3 Days a week in the office
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribution to Strategy:
* Provide input into and support the implementation of the finance strategy aligned with the company’s annual business goals.
* Oversee the communication and execution of action plans, including specifications, timelines, and budgets.
Team Management:
* Set clear, specific, and measurable objectives for the team, driving their performance and contribution.
* Motivate, inspire, and foster a positive team culture by recognizing and celebrating successes.
Management Accounts and Statutory Reporting:
* Manage critical financial processes, such as CEO and executive reports, new accounting standards, annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and annual audits.
* Handle various business reports including store income statements, financial reports for executive committees, and more.
Treasury Management:
* Oversee all banking relationships, systems, and payments for the company.
* Manage store deposits and card transactions across all African countries.
Stock and Gross Profits:
* Ensure the accurate recording and analysis of inventory, covering various product categories and monitoring effective gross profit margins.
* Review and reconcile inventory import/export entries.
Compliance Management:
* Ensure compliance with South African Reserve Bank regulations and relevant laws (e.g., VAT acts) related to imports and exports.
* Work with country financial managers to ensure compliance with local regulations across African countries.
Policies and Procedures:
* Maintain standardized treasury policies, including cash balance management, counterparty risk, and repatriation priorities.
Tax Management:
* Oversee the timely submission and payment of tax returns, including VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax.
* Ensure accurate accounting and reporting of tax in accordance with IFRS or local GAAP.
Ad-Hoc Tasks and Projects:
* Assist in various ad-hoc tasks and involvement in financial projects as required.
