Job Summary
Hire Resolve's client is seeking an Accountant who will be responsible for managing financial information and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial statements. They will play a critical role in maintaining financial records, preparing budgets, and analyzing financial data to support the financial decision-making process. The Accountant will work closely with the finance team to enhance financial controls and procedures while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely recording, coding, and processing of financial transactions in accordance with company policies and accounting principles.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Analyze financial data and support management decision-making by providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Support the finance team in managing financial audits and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve accounting discrepancies and provide necessary information for audits and financial reporting.
- Participate in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and best practices to ensure compliance and make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven work experience as an Accountant or in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of South African accounting standards and regulations.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Solid understanding of financial reporting and analysis.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
