Hire Resolve is actively seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join a reputable construction firm in Durban. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional who is eager to contribute to innovative building projects while developing their career within the construction industry.
As a Quantity Surveyor in Durban, you will be responsible for managing project costs, preparing accurate estimates, conducting valuations, and ensuring that projects remain financially viable throughout their lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation: Calculate the costs of construction projects, including materials and labor.
- Budget Management: Create and manage project budgets to keep costs under control.
- Tendering: Prepare documents for bidding, review contractor bids, and help choose the best one.
- Contract Administration: Manage contracts between clients and builders, ensuring all legal requirements are met.
- Site Measurement: Visit construction sites to measure work done and check quantities for payments.
- Value Engineering: Find cost-effective solutions in project designs without sacrificing quality.
- Financial Reporting: Provide regular updates on project costs and budgets to clients and stakeholders.
- Risk Management: Identify potential problems and create plans to address them.
- Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, and other professionals for project success.
- Dispute Resolution: Help resolve any disagreements about costs or contracts.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work follows local laws and building codes.
- Sustainability Considerations: Look for and use environmentally friendly practices and materials in projects.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in Quantity Surveying
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts and procurement processes
- Proficiency in relevant software like CCS, Candy, or similar
- Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
