Job Summary
Hire Resolve is seeking a skilled Senior Mechatronics Engineer - KZN on behalf of our client, a leading Automotive Component Manufacturer located in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This role is crucial for providing operational support to existing manufacturing facilities while driving various related projects. The ideal candidate will blend mechanical, electrical, computer, and software expertise to work with advanced technologies, including robotics, automated guided systems, and computer-integrated manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities
- Take ownership of assigned projects in line with divisional requirements.
- Control and manage Mechatronics associated spares for the plant.
- Conduct timely repairs and maintenance of plant equipment.
- Maintain effective backups of all software and PLC programs.
- Ensure prompt response to faults.
- Maintain machine uptime through proactive maintenance.
- Perform effective troubleshooting and repairs.
- Execute scheduled maintenance and address breakdowns.
- Support all departments with Mechatronics needs.
- Develop and build new Mechatronics facilities.
- Facilitate wiring of PLC panels and electronic machinery.
- Conduct PLC and software programming.
- Assist in upgrading facilities and implementing advancements.
- Complete all documentation accurately and on time.
- Manage network infrastructure.
- Oversee production IT systems and servers.
- Handle database administration and development.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices.
- Operate within budget constraints.
- Ensure project timelines are met.
- Coach and mentor junior Mechatronics staff.
- Monitor and address performance gaps in junior staff.
- Stand in for the Mechatronics Manager as needed.
- Lead complex problem-solving efforts.
- Plan and organize resources for Mechatronics projects.
Requirements:
- BTech or BSc Degree in Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent in computer science/programming.
- 5-7 years’ experience in PLC and computer programming (including 3 years in software/electronic development).
- Automotive industry an added advantage
- Advanced IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Computer programming experience (Delphi advantageous, LabVIEW, C#, ASP.NET).
- PLC programming knowledge (RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, Festo FST, Festo Codesys).
- Robot programming experience (Fanuc, Yaskawa, Denso).
- Experience in machine automation, integration, and controls.
- Windows Server management and IT infrastructure experience.
- Database development and administration experience (MySQL experience advantageous).
- Mechanical and basic electronic knowledge.
- Project management skills.
