Job Summary
Hire Resolve's client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Maintenance Engineer to join their team in the Paper Manufacturing industry in KwaZulu-Natal. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical maintenance, with a proven track record of success in overseeing maintenance operations within a manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements in line with the OHS Act
- Support and monitor adherence to ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 55001) and OHSAS 18000 for quality, environmental, energy, asset, and health/safety management in engineering
- Promote plant reliability monitoring to minimize downtime and perform proactive maintenance
- Communicate objectives, schedules, and budgets for shutdowns, providing regular updates and corrective actions for any deviations
- Identify and propose cost-effective improvements to plant design, equipment, or operations for long-term benefits and manage approvals within company guidelines
- Oversee spare stock management to optimize working capital, approving stock changes in the system
- Track equipment failures, breakdowns, and over time, driving root cause analysis and process improvements to prevent recurrence
- Manage equipment renewal and capital projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and adherence to company standards
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to solve plant issues and foster collaboration with production teams
- Conduct evidence-based root cause analysis, seeking expert input when necessary, and implementing recommended changes
- Ensure equipment Quality Control Plans (QCPs) meet company standards, developing new QCPs where needed
- Lead the recruitment, development, and performance management of the maintenance and production team
Requirements:
- BSc/BEng/BTech/Advance Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 to 10 years of experience as an Electrical / Mechanical Engineer in a heavy industry/manufacturing environment
- 5 years of experience in managing multidiscipline maintenance teams in a section/area
- A Government Certificate of Competency would be advantageous. (Factories)
- MDP or equivalent would be advantageous.
