Job Summary
A leading food manufacturing company situated in Cape Town is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced Engineering Manager join their team.
The successful incumbent for this position will be responsible for:
- Safe operation of the Processing and Utilities Plant as per the OHS Act 85 of 1993
- Effective management of downtime within the Processing environment through focused and results-driven management strategies
- Planning, costing & execution of capital projects
- Compiling of annual maintenance budgets and overall cost control
- Overall cost control within the maintenance environment
- Daily management of the engineering & maintenance management teams
- Daily interaction with a large number of suppliers in an endeavour to proactively source the most cost-effective & quality intrinsic solutions, thereby maximizing plant output
- Implementation & maintenance of various 20 Keys projects within the Engineering/Maintenance department
- Enforcing and maintaining continued sustainability projects within the Engineering department as per group policy
- Daily interaction with various departmental & group role players at senior managerial level.
Key requirements:
- Must be in possession of an Electrical/Mechanical Engineers Certificate of Competency for Factories (GCC), with a clear and proven ability to operate within a pressurized and fast paced production environment
- Must have been appointed as the GMR.2 (1) in terms of the OHS Act 85 of 1993 as amended
- Must have at least 10 years maintenance and engineering experience within a poultry/FMCG / food manufacturing environment
- Must be computer literate and strong Microsoft Office Suite (Professional or Advanced)
- Experience using an ERP system for procurement and stock-holding
- Strong hands-on managerial, influence and leadership skills
- Excellent administration and problem-solving skills
- Commit and comply to the requirements of the company's management systems, including the continuous workplace improvement programme (20 Keys)
- Must be able to work independently and cope well under pressure
- The candidate must be self-motivated with the ability to meet strict deadlines, quality driven, responsible and be able to use of own initiative
