Job Summary
A multi-disciplinary infrastructure consulting company in Cape Town is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team! To fulfil the role of Professional Quantity Surveyor, the candidate must manage project activities to deliver specified scope within a fee budget, to an acceptable quality and on time.
Requirements:
- BSc Quantity Surveying/BSc Quantity Surveying (Honours)
- Professionally Registered with the SACQSP
- Knowledge of construction contracts (JBCC, FIDIC, NEC, GCC)
- WinQS proficient
- DimensionX proficient
- MS Office literacy
Responsibilities:
- Managing costs on a wide variety of new and existing building projects and structures, such as residential developments, sports stadiums, roads and bridges, schools, hospitals, offices, factories and commercial properties.
- Undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
- Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
- Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.
- Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
- Performing risk and value management, cost control and value engineering.
- Advising on procurement strategy, contract documentation and financial control.
- Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, returnable schedules and Preliminaries & General.
- Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
- Preparing and analysing costing for tenders, tender evaluation, tender adjudication and appointment of contractors and/or sub-contractors.
- Allocating work to subcontractors.
- Providing advice on contractual claims, variation orders, site instructions, escalation and final accounts.
- Analysing outcomes and writing detailed inception-,progress-, preliminary design-, final design reports. •Valuing completed work and arranging payments.
- Assisting the Bids Department with write-ups to be used for tender purposes for future QS work.
- Calculation of escalation, penalties, monthly payment certificates and the reconciliation of the final account and close-out report.
- Preparation of monthly cost reports / financial reports on projects.
- Measurement of rentable areas.
- Cash-flows.
- Targeted procurement including training and monitoring.
