Job Summary
Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our client's team in Cape Town. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the cost and financial management of construction projects. You will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects
- Develop and manage project budgets
- Conduct site visits and assess progress of construction work
- Analyse and negotiate contracts with suppliers and contractors
- Monitor and control project costs
- Prepare financial reports and projections for management
- Provide advice on cost-saving measures and value engineering
- Ensure compliance with building regulations and health and safety standards
- Manage and supervise junior quantity surveyor
Requirements:
- National diploma or Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction/engineering environment
- Proficiency in construction cost estimating software
- Experience using CCS software
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
