Job Summary
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bridge Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and rehabilitation of bridge structures across South Africa. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic structures team, working on highway, rail, and pedestrian bridge projects that shape the nation’s transport infrastructure.
Requirements: -
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng, BSc, or equivalent).
- Professional Registration (Pr.Eng, CEng) or working towards it.
- 5+ years of experience in bridge design, analysis & project management.
- Proficiency in CAD, SAP2000, Sofistik, RM Bridge, or similar software.
- Experience with bridge inspections, assessments, and rehabilitation.
- Understanding of Eurocodes, DMRB (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges), and South African bridge design standards.
- Knowledge of sustainable and resilient bridge design principles.
Key Responsibilities: -
- Bridge Design & Structural Analysis – Lead design calculations, structural modeling, and engineering assessments for new and existing bridges.
- Project Management – Oversee timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
- Inspection & Rehabilitation – Conduct assessments, inspections, and condition evaluations of bridge structures.
- Strengthening & Repairs – Design and implement rehabilitation & reinforcement strategies for aging or damaged bridges.
- Collaboration & Mentorship – Work closely with senior engineers, clients, and contractors while mentoring junior engineers.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance – Ensure designs meet engineering codes, regulations, and sustainability best practices.
