Job Summary
Job Objective:
Our client is seeking a highly experienced qualified Imports Supervisor. The successful candidate must have relevant experience/knowledge in Imports and Exports Management, Procurement Order, Invoicing Management, Transport sourcing and running of the Imports Department.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identify customer solutions on rates and services.
- Source and negotiate freight rates from different shipping lines direct/indirect, and ad hoc services where required
- Participate in supplier meetings, discuss challenges and possible solutions
- Maintain a good working relationship with the Team and other departments.
- Adhere to SOP's and Operational Processes and Procedures.
- Audit & submit the suppliers' Invoicing and disbursements
- Must have experience in all different modes of transport (Air, Sea & Road)
- Able to handle files from, start to end including invoices.
- Ability to understand the process of all different certificates on the export.
- Must have import permit requirement knowledge.
- Able to draw out SOP for different transporters, clearing agents etc
- Effectively and promptly handling queries/problems (sense of urgency)
- Liaise with agents regarding packing and shipping documents
- Evaluate and apply all new import permits and export licenses for all processes.
- Administer all freight logistics
- Provide optimal level of service and resolve all shipment issues
- Track all import shipments and export shipments and forward weekly updates to relevant departments.
- Evaluate all imported items and ensure accuracy in all values and collaborate with clearance agency
- Prepare all export documentation and relevant certificates of conformance and other certificates that will be required by our customers and destination customs authorities (Cross-border).
- Perform audits on all import and export files on a regular basis.
- Perform all record-keeping processes and maintain records of all entries.
- Review invoicing and related documents to ensure shipping, handling, storage charges, and customs fees are billed correctly.
- Liaising with Tanzania, and the Zambia factory.
- Execute different courses of action in general in accordance with instructions given by Management.
Requirements:
- 5-7 years' experience within a clearing and forwarding environment.
- Bachelor's Degree as a qualification
- Other suitable qualifications would be advantageous.
- Shipping related experience.
- Spund knowledge and understanding of practices and processes within the Sea freight environment
- Excellent communication both written/verbal at all levels
- Organizational skills and effective time management.
- Computer literate - Microsoft Office & Excel
- Well organized individual able to work under pressure / heavy workloads.
- Able to work in a team as well as independently.
