Job Title: Import Controller
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
Hire Resolve's client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Import Controller to join their based in Johannesburg. The Import Controller will be responsible for coordinating and managing the efficient flow of imported goods from international suppliers to our clients. The successful candidate must have in-depth knowledge of import regulations, procedures, and customs requirements, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage the import process, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and customs requirements.
- Liaise with international suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs agents to ensure the timely delivery of imported goods.
- Monitor and track the movement of goods throughout the import process, ensuring accuracy and timely updates.
- Prepare and submit all necessary documentation, such as import permits, customs declarations, and shipping schedules.
- Communicate regularly with clients, providing them with updates on the status of their imported goods.
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as procurement and warehouse, to ensure smooth coordination of import activities.
- Conduct thorough inspections of imported goods to ensure quality control and compliance with specifications.
- Resolve any issues or delays that may arise during the import process, taking proactive measures to mitigate potential risks.
- Keep updated with changes in import regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements to ensure compliance and optimize cost efficiency.
- Analyse and report on import performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience working as an Import Controller or a similar role within the logistics industry.
- Sound knowledge of import regulations, customs procedures, and international trade practices.
- Proficiency in using import-related software and tools, such as customs clearance software and tracking systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring all import documentation and processes are completed correctly.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quick decisions and find solutions in challenging situations.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
